Tauranga is best known as the gateway to the bubbling mud pools, thermal fields., sulfurous steam rising from within the earth thru deep crevices of Rotorua. The local Maori people believe this cauldron like region to be a gift of fire from the Gods. Export kiwi fruits,pine logs. The world's 7th most important port, employs 23, 000 people. Masses of retirement villas. 4 weeks vacation a yr. $14 an hr min wage. So Kiwi orchards are 85 yrs old and still producing. Kiwi fruits take about 2 yrs to mature.     Cultural city of New Zealand's North Island, Auckland is known as the "City of Sails" for its residents love of boating. A stunning setting between 2 harbors. This seafaring city hosted 2 American's Cup challenges & its marinas are brimming with world class yachts. 1/3 of Australia's population live here. Public hospitals are free. Everyone pays for their 1st 20 Medicines at $5 each every year. You can't sue anyone. 15% tax on everything. 1st yr of university is free. Everyone when they reach 65 get $300 ( Australian ) every 2 weeks. 4,000 earthquakes a year in New Zealand. Most you don't feel. Mostly in the South Island. Cold day in Auckland would be 50 degreesWeiterlesen

    Last leg of our trip, left Auckland at 7pm Tues. Jan 10th, arrived in San Francisco 9:30 am Tues Jan.1 0th.. Figure that one out. The flight was delayed 3 hrs made us miss all connections out of SF to Chicago, then to KC. We're all set for a 6:30 pm direct flight to KC. Long 8..5 hrs in the airport after a 12 hr flight from Auckland. It's been an awesome trip.Weiterlesen
