    I can’t believe I’m actually going to Japan… to Tokyo…!! 🥺 I’m so excited I don’t even know what to do with myself…!!

The theme of this trip is shopping, eating amazing food, and visiting temples! And of course, I definitely want to make new friends too.Read more

  • Stay in Tokyo Peninsula Hotel Suite

    December 13, 2023 in Japan ⋅ ☀️ 15 °C

This time I'm staying in a suite at The Peninsula Tokyo – the Tokyo Peninsula Luxury Suite. The room faces right over Hibiya Park and Ginza, and the view is absolutely perfect.

Just as I thought, coming with my best friend was the right choice… happiness is so much better when it’s shared right away.

…🤍 Honestly, I’d be happy just staying in the hotel all day…

  • Ginza

    December 14, 2023 in Japan ⋅ ⛅ 14 °C

Since the weather is so lovely, how about trying the "close your eyes for thirty seconds" game? Stand in the middle of the Shibuya crossing and let your skin feel the sun and the breeze first, then let your eyes take in the flow of neon lights and moving crowds—Tokyo’s first lesson is often about waking up your senses before you open the map.

Today’s goal isn’t about checking off must-see spots, but about collecting three "unplanned beautiful moments":

▸ The strangest-colored drink from a vending machine

▸ A wrong note played by a stranger on a station piano

▸ The shape of a cat’s nose print left on a café window

  • Roppongi Kappou Ukai🍽

    December 15, 2023 in Japan ⋅ ☁️ 11 °C

The first Tokyo restaurant I’d recommend is Ukai Tei in Roppongi, a teppanyaki place 🍽️. I’d been dreaming about the teppanyaki I tried in Fukuoka four years ago, so I decided to give it another go in Tokyo 😎.

Ukai is a well-known teppanyaki chain in Tokyo—the Ginza location was fully booked a month ahead, and I heard the Roppongi branch had just one seat left. Even though I hesitated a bit, I went for Roppongi… and it turned out to be such a good choice! 👍🏼 The whole Roppongi restaurant is made up of private teppanyaki rooms, and the service, the atmosphere, even the “performance” were absolutely perfect.

The manager recommended Chateau Filhot, which suited our taste so well—I even discovered my new favorite drink of all time there…

It’s the perfect spot to kick off a fine dining journey in Tokyo, and now I’d love to try the Ginza branch too 🤍.

  • Sushi Wakon🍣

    December 16, 2023 in Japan ⋅ ☁️ 21 °C

“Since we came all the way to Japan, we must have sushi!” As a true food lover, I spent days searching carefully online and finally decided on the highly praised #SushiWakon🍣 — and turns out it’s right next to our hotel, haha.
But it totally lived up to the hype.
You can tell the quality of the sushi just from the photos, no words needed 👍🏼.
When I took the first bite, I felt so grateful I’d made it to Tokyo. It was such a beautiful lunch 🌝.

Counter seats are the best because you get to interact with the chef—it makes the experience so much more fun! 🙆🏻♀️
The chef kept complimenting me, and the elderly couple next to me did too 🖤 We ended up chatting nonstop, and it was only after a long while that we finally got up to leave.
To be honest, though, even more than the sushi, what made me feel truly satisfied was all the praise from the chef 🤤🍣
Thank you so much, Chef! I’ll definitely be back 🙏.

  • Christmas is coming to Tokyo too 🎄🤍

    December 16, 2023 in Japan ⋅ ☁️ 21 °C

    Ginza is just magical… 👼

The streets twinkle with festive lights, every corner feels like a postcard—especially under the giant sparkling bows at Bvlgari and the soft glow of luxury storefronts. I strolled slowly, letting the holiday energy wrap around me like a cozy scarf, sipping hot cocoa between window displays and pretending I’m in a romantic movie scene. Even the crisp winter air feels sweeter here, filled with the scent of pine and possibility. If you ever get the chance to visit Tokyo during Christmas, don’t miss Ginza—it’s pure winter magic, wrapped in elegance and a touch of sparkle. ✨Read more

  • Kinryū-zan Sensō-ji⛩

    December 17, 2023 in Japan ⋅ ☀️ 11 °C

I stepped onto the smooth-worn stone stairs in front of the century-old shop "Umeya," and in the distance, the giant red lantern of Kaminarimon Gate swayed gently in the hazy morning light—like a seal from the Edo period, about to be stamped into the memory book of a modern-day traveler like me.

Passing through the gate of the Wind and Thunder Gods, I instinctively touched the base of the Wind God statue on the right. A local elderly lady once told me there’s a hidden nail here that’s said to ward off evil. Just as my fingers met the cool stone surface, a vendor’s cart selling ningyoyaki passed by, and the sweet aroma mingled briefly with the scent of temple incense in the air.

According to legend, in the year 628, fishermen pulled a golden statue of Kannon (the Goddess of Mercy) from the Sumida River, which became the origin of Sensō-ji. In Japan, this embodies a faith focused on compassion and worldly aid—where people pray for health, safety, and relief from suffering. For me, it’s an incredibly meaningful place; those warm memories still flow gently inside my heart.👪

  • かつ吉 渋谷店😋

    December 18, 2023 in Japan ⋅ ⛅ 11 °C

For this Shibuya trip, this restaurant was absolutely my top choice 👍🏼. I stumbled upon this amazing tonkatsu spot while wandering around Katsukichi.

I ordered a few different set meals—first, the mountain of salad surprised me, and then the tonkatsu completely blew me away with how delicious it was 😋🤍. Don’t overthink it, just go for the tonkatsu set… This is Esther’s recommendation! A total local hidden gem!

Ginza at night feels like a jewel carved anew by light.

I sat on a bench by Sukiyabashi Bridge, watching the Sumida River shatter the reflections of the city into thousands of glimmering scales. A girl in yukata ran by laughing, her geta clacking against the pavement like a secret rhythm keeping time for the sleepless city. It struck me then—Ginza after dark isn’t the opposite of its daytime self, but rather the moment the city finally loosens its tie and lets out a gentle, poetic sigh.🌟

  • Return trip🛫

    December 19, 2023 in Japan ⋅ ☁️ 10 °C

My travel companion Anna — looking back on this year, my sister and I went to so many places. I really do travel best with family or friends 👩🏼🤝👩🏻.
Where should we go next? Every trip leaves behind beautiful memories, and the photos we take turn those journeys into something we can hold onto.

To end with a line from the German poet Hermann Hesse, maybe tuck this into your suitcase:
“The magic of travel lies in the lightness of departure and the richness of soul upon return.”
