Albany Historic Whaling Station

Wow, what an emotional kind of place, more so knowing it was operating up until the end of 1978. The only complete Whaling Station in the world, and it preserved a whaling ship. After seeing such big, beautiful creatures yesterday, I can only imagine the blood-stained beaches from their harvesting today. When thinking of whaling, you get a feeling it was colonial history, but nope, it only stopped in Australia a few years before I was born.Read more
