Dedication ceremony- PTE Quinn

Today marks the fist of our 16 Re-dedication ceremonys for PTE Quinn KIA 8th Aug 1918. Having the opportunity to witness a ceremony, giving the name back to a once unknown fallen Austrlaian soldier was a very humbling experience.

"Lest we forget"

hearing the words from school children back in Australia who wrote letters to PTE Quinn was very moving. It made me realise how people should be sharing the stories of these soldiers and how they payed the ultimate sacrifice.

When we were walking Into the cemetey we met an Australian couple travelling Europe. We explained what we were doing at the memorial and they were moved to tears.

It is amazing to see what this means to the local population, the uttermost respect is held by everyone entering the memorial. The local cemeterys are kept in immaculate condition by local volunteers and the monuments outside the small towns dedicated to those Australians who fought and were killed alongside their own, for the freedom of their country is amazing to witness.Les mer
