Exploring Popayan

The beautiful centre of Popayan, the largest historical town area in Colombia. With a large university and educated population, Popayan is a very political city and has provided 11 presidents including the current vice president and one of the candidates running in the presidential election at the end of the month. A bomb went off the week before we arrived on the highway just outside town, killing over 20 people.
