    A step north from Zaragoza, where I have been for the last 3 days reviewing the Camino del Ebro and now towards the Pyrenees. No footprints for Zaragoza but an extraordinary city with lots to see. Now reviewing parts of the Catalan camino which comes north from Barcelona and the Aragons-French way which comes west from the French border at Somport through Camfranc Station. Both are difficult and challenging routes but looking at them is not a commitment to walk them.Læs mere

    Very quiet mountain town that has two converging cominos. They have a beautiful restored fort complex from when the Spanish feared invasion by the French through the Somport pass: with a herd of deer in the dry moat. They also have a very old cathedral in the Romanesque style which is so dark inside that photography does not work. Absolutely clear blue skys, high temperatures, very little wind and clear views of snow on the Pyrenees.Læs mere

    Arrived in Bilbao and it has started raining, so time to go home. O7.00 flight in the morning providing I manage to get the 05.00 bus to the airport. Big football game at Sam Mames stadium; everyone is walking around in red and white striped football shirts. I am supposing this is Bilbao's strip. Just discussing possible caminos with an 81 year old American pilgrim of Korean descent. She wants one without roads and hills! I no longer recognise the San Mames area.Læs mere
