    Cuenca and its surroundig area

    September 23, 2021 in Ecuador ⋅ ☁️ 12 °C

On our last days in Cuenca we were enjoying to walk trough the cute old town and parks. Also we did a trip to two little mountain villages. Chordeleg is famous for its jewelries selling all kind of silver and gold stuff, while Sigsig is known for the production of the famous Panama Hats. We visited a association of Ecuadorian women who are making those hats from cutting the wheats until the final product.

Cuenca is definitely our favorite place at the Ecuadorian main land so far and we can highly recommend a stop here.
Since we found out that the popular mountain train “devils nose” is not operating, we changed our plans. We’re going to Riobamba next, for some hiking around the highest mountain in the country: Chimborazo!
