    Philip Island - Penguin Island

    March 16, 2022 in Australia ⋅ ☁️ 20 °C

Every evening at dusk, thousands of Penguins arriving at the beaches of Philip Island. They’re coming back from the open sea were they spent the whole day hunting fish. About 30.000 Penguins living between the dunes of this small island. It’s the smallest penguin species existing.

We’re sitting at the beach waiting for the penguins to come. Nothing. But suddenly you could see their little heads between the waves. In groups of around 30 individuals they’d start walking up the beach to climb the dunes, where their nests are located. A natural spectacle!

We also had our first encounter with wallabies, a small type of kangaroo when we drove around Philip Island.
