Sicily

Sicily was one of the places I dreamed of going my whole life, where my ancestors came from. When I arrived in Sicily I was warned about the mafia but it wasn't an issue at all. I made some friends at the hostel who I got dinner with and chatted. One of them who was memorable had a journal where he asked people he made a connection with to write their best piece of advice.

Taormina was very nice. I explored the town with some people from the hostel and then went to meet Michael Vincent's friend Dimitri. He worked at this restaurant by the beach, it was gorgeous. I had dinner there and watched the sunset.

Also one of the things I didn't realize about Sicily was that they use pistachio is a lot of their dishes. They have pasta with pistachio and they put it in their cannolis. Another random thing is I finally got rid of my shoes that I bought on my second day of my trip (over a month later). I donated them to a homeless shelter.Read more
