    Enjoying Luang Prabang

    August 11, 2019 in Laos ⋅ ⛅ 30 °C

In the pretty city of Luang Prabang, the former royal capital of Laos, today a nice touristic spot, we could finally rest and relax, without riding our bicycles for more than 2 or 3 kilometers...

So, without trying to visit many spots, we :
    - had a lot of tasty food,
    - walked the morning and night markets,
    - visited the royal palace & some temples,
    - attended to a traditional theater/ dance show, a Lao interpretation of a Maharabatha episode, which we unfortunate did not fully understand,
    - watched an Avenger movie in a bar/restaurant/library managed by a quebecan grandmother,
    - met a french guy named "Pilou Pilou", who was working on a cruise boat and partying with some priests on Saturdays, then going to church with them on Sundays,
    - had street food with a japanese girl and a lao guy,
    - played Jenga in a restaurant,
    - felt the vibes of Luang Prabang nightlife in a cool riverside bar named "Utopia",
    - crossed the river to explore the surroundings, a bit off the main touristic roads,
    - climbed to a sunset viewpoint but found that there were too many tourists so watched the sunset from another spot,
    - squatted a colonial house to write our postcards,
    - planned on going to an early morning yoga class but never went (it was too early),
    - bought some "cassoulet", "terrine", and "pain au chocolat" (mostly for myself) in a French shop,
    - opened our red wine bottle in a restaurant, with the assent of the French manager, even though he was selling the exact same bottle,
    - watched some funerals during 2 days across the street, thinking it was a wedding and realising only afterwards what it was, etc.

Overall, our 2,5 days in Luang Prabang went by really fast ! We then had to split up, each of us taking a night bus but to different destinations : Laetitia to Vientiane, to catch her plane back home, me to Hanoi, Vietnam, to be there on time to meet new visitors from France !
