• Lincoln Forest, near Bonito Lake...

    24 maja 2023, Stany Zjednoczone ⋅ ☀️ 72 °F

It's 3:15 New Mexico time we are in the very sudden most edges of the Rockies very close to Bonito Lake, at South fork Camp. Unfortunately this area had a devastatingly hot fire about 7-8 years ago. Thank goodness the campground was been saved and we are surrounded by lush forest and trees, however the hill across the creek looks raw and baron with 100's dead or felled ponderosa pines scattered about . So, in keeping with the mantra of the green blue highways, we have camped with blue sky and green all around, although it's a rather selected grove of green (trees).
Now we go on with the blue highways that we came up on, without the missile range. We are way north of that horrible area. Anyway, it's a beautiful area Aguirie Springs, just spoiled by views of this missle range thing, but anyway...
May 25th... The camps' "long drop" for once isn't - it's actually a flush toilet - plus a mirror and running (cold) water. For better or for worse, a mirror allows for reflection of hair that hasn't seriously been combed for days.
We leave in a few hours to overnight with a friend (and hot shower) in Alburqueque, N. M.
So, "Blue Highways hoooo!".... Till we pitch camp again,
    ALL is well,
    Jack and Connie.
