Oban Surrounds

Another beautiful day today. Got up to 24C this afternoon - so much for the suitcase of warm clothes and coats.
This morning drove to St Conans Kirk which stands on the edge of Loch Awe. Well preserved church from the 18th century in a spectacular setting. We then visited Kilchurn Castle which was built in the mid 1400s. Not safe to go inside, but again in a beautiful location surrounded by open grazing lands and another pretty loch. On to Inverary Castle, which is still home to the Campbell family. Beautifully preserved and filled with priceless antiques. We had a cream tea in the sunshine in the courtyard after our tour and then wandered around Inverary town where we had a pub lunch.
This afternoon came back to Oban, driving alongside many more lochs and saw our first lock in one of the canals! Am now in Oban Distillery trying to convince myself that I like whisky!Läs mer
