25 | Gisborne

🇬🇧 We originally planned to drive further up north today but realised our itinerary was too busy and we didn't have enough time to plan ahead, so we decided to cut out some stops and stay another night in Gisborne on another campsite. We started our day by walking around Gisborne and buying a cheap body board. Afterwards we went to the beach and realised our cheap body board was totally useless, so we just went for a swim instead.

Our campsite also has an indoor pool with a tiny flume so of course we had to try it out. After lunch (sushi 🤤) we drove out to a place where Rob used to stay in Gisborne called the Surf Shack, but unfortunately the place doesn't exist anymore and the beach is full of litter.

Finally we travelled to a place called Rere which has two waterfalls. One was a normal vertical one, whereas the other one goes at a 45 degree angle which makes it perfect for using it as a slide. Unfortunately, the rocks looked very dangerous, the water was quite dirty and the weather had cooled down a lot we decided against trying it out. On the drive back to our campsite we bought two cheap but much better body boards of Facebook marketplace and looking forward to trying them out tomorrow.

🇩🇪 Ursprünglich wollten wir heute weiter nach Norden fahren, merkten aber, dass unser Reiseplan zu voll war und wir nicht genug Zeit hatten, im Voraus zu planen. Also beschlossen wir, einige Stopps wegzulassen und eine weitere Nacht in Gisborne auf einem anderen Campingplatz zu verbringen. Wir begannen unseren Tag damit, durch Gisborne zu laufen und ein billiges Bodyboard zu kaufen. Danach gingen wir zum Strand und stellten fest, dass unser billiges Bodyboard völlig nutzlos war, also gingen wir stattdessen einfach schwimmen.

Unser Campingplatz hat auch ein Hallenbad mit einer kleinen Rutsche, also mussten wir das natürlich ausprobieren. Nach dem Mittagessen (Sushi 🤤) fuhren wir zu einem Ort in Gisborne, wo Rob vor 12 Jahren eine Woche verbracht hatte. Er hieß Surf Shack, aber leider existiert dieser Ort nicht mehr und der Strand ist voller Müll.

Schließlich fuhren wir zu einem Ort namens Rere, wo es zwei Wasserfälle gibt. Einer war ein normaler vertikaler, während der andere in einem 45-Grad-Winkel verläuft, was ihn perfekt zum Rutschen macht. Leider sahen die Felsen sehr gefährlich aus, das Wasser war ziemlich schmutzig und das Wetter war so stark abgekühlt, dass wir uns dagegen entschieden, es auszuprobieren. Auf der Fahrt zurück zu unserem Campingplatz kauften wir zwei billige, aber viel bessere Bodyboards auf dem Facebook-Marktplatz und freuen uns darauf, sie morgen auszuprobieren.Baca lagi
