Epic open door helicopter tour of Kauai

We had a break in the weather long enough to finally do our delayed helicopter tour. Our pilot, Kelby, was great and kept everyone safe and calm. The winds were insane and between sites we traveled at 110-150 mph! We saw so many things, but the highlights were Jurassic falls (where the helicopter in the movie first lands), Waimea canyon (fewer clouds than this morning), the Napali coast, and Wai’ale’ale which is the volcano that erupted 5 million years ago to form the Kauai east coast. Inside the crater of Wai’ale’ale are hundreds of waterfalls when it rains since the dome averages 300+ inches of rain a year! Sometimes up to 600”! It’s usually ranked in the top 10 wettest places on earth each year.Leggi altro
