• Arches Day 2: Delicate Arch at night

    September 5, 2024 in the United States ⋅ ☁️ 82 °F

After relaxing with the pups for several hours, we headed back to delicate arch for sunset and star gazing. We expected a large crowd for sunset, when the arch turns a bright orange with the lowering sun, and we were correct. There was great people watching as everyone scrambled for their photo under the towering rocks. Once the sun sat the majority of people head down the trail since it can be daunting to do in the dark if not prepared. One of the groups that stayed behind had nice camera and tripod equipment and kindly informed us that the Milky Way would be visible above the arch starting at 9pm. We had already planned on staying for star gazing but this was just a cherry on top! We love seeing the Milky Way, and knew it would be easy to spot as Arches is a designated dark sky park (meaning light pollution is actively reduced to protect the night sky viewing). It was overall an amazing experience, and we had fun getting down the trail in the pitch black. Thank goodness for headlamps!Read more
