St peters, Residenz, English Garden

Over 8 miles of walking through this beautiful city. Started by watching the Glockenspiel go off from St Peters cathedral tower (306 steep wooden steps to get there) with only 4 other people, walked through the Residenz museum which was home to the old palace, walked through the eastern part of the English Gardens and had dinner at Ginkgo, a well done Asian tapas restaurant.Les mer

In the morning we spent an overcast time at Dachau concentration camp memorial. Sombering and humbling but important to acknowledge. Came back to Starktbeerfest at the Paulaner with great company.

Drove from Munich to Hohenschwangau, a town that has 2 beautiful castles from King Maximilian and his son King Ludwig II. King Ludwig II mysteriously died before his castle could be finished, many believe he was either shot or drowned due to overspending with several beautiful palaces and castles he built. He was only 40 when it happened.Les mer

Neuschwanstein tour and panorama point

We checked into our hotel room with a great view of the alps. Then hiked back up to Neuschwanstein castle by way of panorama point. Beautiful and just doesn’t even feel real. Learned about King Ludwig II a bit more. He was obsessed with building these romantic castles because he felt himself a reincarnate of the knights of the round table. He also felt he was put on the throne by god so most of the presentation rooms were cathedral-like. Gorgeous details but he didn’t want anyone else in these castles other than servants.Les mer
