I had a plan. It was a good plan. I was going to fly back from Taipei to Osaka, take the afternoon train to the airport in Narita. Sleep at Narita. Make the flight on the 24th as easy as possible. Of course all of that is down the toilet. This night was probably exactly how I should have expected this trip to end, considering everything.
So what happened, I got to Tokyo station. Figured, big train station (THE Tokyo station), should be open all night. Nope, closed at 02:00, everyone got kicked out. So here I am, Tokyo, 2 in the morning, and I didn't book any accommodation since I thought I could spend the night at the station. So what did I do? Sometimes I have wild ideas that somehow work out...
Looked up a nice enough hotel (First Cabin Kyōbashi – not too long of a walk from the station), walked in and told the lady at the reception, "I just need to sit around for a few hours (till I can take the train to the airport) and would it be okay for me to stay here since the train station closed down and I can't sit around outside since it's a little colder than I was planning for. I don´t need a room - I would literally only be there for 3 hours tops.”
She was a little confused, but they let me stay there until I needed to go back to the station, so I spent those hours safe and warm, dozing by a table. I had access to coffee (there are drink automats EVERYWHERE) and a restroom. I’m still having trouble believing this actually worked.
Walking in Tokyo at 2 and 5 in the morning today was like walking through a parallel universe. The streets were completely empty, no cars, no people, nothing. Only me, my luggage and the knowledge that I'll be flying out tomorrow.
But now, I'm but a train ride away from the airport. I'll be there by 7:15 or so. Just to be sure.

Volt egy tervem. Jó terv volt. Visszarepültem volna Taipeiből Osakaba, a délutáni vonattal mentem volna a reptérre Naritaban. Naritaban aludtam volna. A lehető legjobban megkönnyítve a 24-ei utat. Ez persze mind le a klotyon most már. Ez az éjszaka pont úgy zajlott ahogy várhattam volna, figyelembe véve mindent.
Szóval, az történt, ideértem a Tokyo állomásra. Gondoltam, nagy vonat állomás (A Tokyo állomás), biztos nyitva lesz egész éjszaka. De nem, 02:00-kor bezárt, mindenki kitessékelve. Szóval, itt vagyok, Tokyo hajnal 2 és nem foglaltam szállást hiszen azt hittem az állomáson tölthetem az éjszakát. Mit csináltam? Néha vannak vad ötleteim, amik valamiért beválnak…
Kerestem egy egész jó hotelt (First Cabin Kyōbashi – nem túl messze az állomástól) és bementem, és azt mondtam a hölgynek a recepción “Csak kicsit elüldögélnék néhány órát (amíg nem megy a vonatom a reptérre) és maradhatok-e itt mert az állomás bezárt és kint nem tudok leülni, mert kicsit hidegebb van mint amire számítottam. Nem kell szoba – szó szerint max 3 órát lennék ott.”
Kicsit összezavarodott, de hagyták hogy maradjak amíg vissza nem kellett mennem az állomásra, így azokat az órákat biztonságban és melegben töltöttem, egy asztalnál szundikálva. Tudtam kávét venni (MINDENHOL vannak ital automaták) és volt mosdó. Még most is nehezen hiszem el, hogy ez működött.
Tokyoban sétálni hajnal 2kor meg 5kor olyan, mintha egy párhuzamos univerzumban sétaltam volna. Az utcák üresek voltak, se autók, se emberek, semmi. Csak én, a csomagom meg a tudat hogy holnap repülök.
De most már csak egy vonat út választ el a reptértől. Ott leszek 07:15-re kb. Biztos ami biztos.もっと詳しく
