    Oia

    July 20, 2017 in Greece ⋅ ☀️ 77 °F

A small village in the most northwestern part of Santorini. Our boat was to drop us off here so we could go up the cliff to see the famous sunset. Well, some large yachts were crowding the dock so we had to use our boat's small dinghy and shuttle 6 of us at a time over to the dock. There's a long windy cobblestone path leading to the top. Dave was in the finals of the 4 events so he competed with 5 others for the championship and raced up the cliff. Kim and Marylou walked and I rode a donkey up part way. Lots of folks up in the village. We had dinner at the top, saw the sunset and took a bus back to Fira.Read more

    July 19, 2017 in Greece ⋅ ☀️ 79 °F

Emporeo, the largest village of the Greek island of Santorini with its enticing sequence of old windmills on the hillside, its narrow whitewashed alleyways with small little entrance doors and of course, its gorgeous blue domed churches. We visited with our Greek driver on our personal tour one afternoon.Read more

    Captain Nicks

    July 19, 2017 in Greece ⋅ 🌬 79 °F

We took the cable car down from Fira to the old harbor. Marylou & Dave met the accountant for the cable car company while in their cruise around cuba in December 2016. He invited them to ride it while in Santorini so Marylou arranged for us to take a complimentary trip! Captain Jacks is a neat restaurant at the bottom. We sat in the old cave section with a great view of the harbor.Read more

    Akrikiri

    July 19, 2017 in Greece ⋅ ☀️ 75 °F

3,500+ year old Minoan settlement on the south side of Santorini that was discovered in 1967. Huge new roof covers and protects the site. Lots more to uncover once they have funding.

    Fira

    July 18, 2017 in Greece ⋅ 🌙 70 °F

Capital of Santorini and its main tourist area. Lots of small alleys with shops and restaurants and of course super views of the caldera. Our hotel was on the north side.
