Samaria Gorge hike

The Samaria gorge is the longest one in Europe. It is an area of stunning natural beauty. Rare flora and fauna have survived in this area and are protected. The mountains that have formed it are wild, high and steep. One will pass through forests of ancient cypresses and pines and descend between vertical cliffs. The path starts from Xyloskalo (near Omalos) in the White Mountains at an altitude of 1230 meters and comes to an end at the village of Agia Roumeli at the Libyan sea. Walking through the gorge usually takes anything from 5-6 hours.
The path is 16km long and although it is maintained and in good condition, it is quite stony and also steep at times.Baca selengkapnya

Capital of Santorini and its main tourist area. Lots of small alleys with shops and restaurants and of course super views of the caldera. Our hotel was on the north side.

3,500+ year old Minoan settlement on the south side of Santorini that was discovered in 1967. Huge new roof covers and protects the site. Lots more to uncover once they have funding.

Museum with artifacts from the archaeological site. Fresco are unbelievable in their color and artistry given that they are almost 4,000 years old!

We took the cable car down from Fira to the old harbor. Marylou & Dave met the accountant for the cable car company while in their cruise around cuba in December 2016. He invited them to ride it while in Santorini so Marylou arranged for us to take a complimentary trip! Captain Jacks is a neat restaurant at the bottom. We sat in the old cave section with a great view of the harbor.Baca selengkapnya

Red Beach is in the southwestern area of Santorini. Kinda of isolated as you have to hike just to get to the lookout area, further if you want to get to the actual beach.

Emporeo, the largest village of the Greek island of Santorini with its enticing sequence of old windmills on the hillside, its narrow whitewashed alleyways with small little entrance doors and of course, its gorgeous blue domed churches.
