    Lucerne/Luzern

    July 21, 2017 in Switzerland ⋅ ☀️ 22 °C

A day out to Lucerne / Luzern, and it's old town (Altstadt). Visited the Kapellbrücke (chapel bridge), a wooden covered bridge from the 1330's used as a fortification for defence from the lake. It is not Lake Lucerne as all the tourists call it, it's Vierwaldstättersee.

Then went onto the Bourbaki panorama, which is located in a large circular shaped building. It's a museum purpose-built in 1881 to house a cylindrical painting by Edouard Castres depicting the Franco-Prussian War. The painting is 14m tall and 112m in length.

From there it was onto Gletschergarten, a local history museum with ice age glacier exhibits, 19th-century mirror maze & leafy garden.
