Kayaking to Cayó Rico

After breakfast we sailed westward for a short time, we were heading for Cayo Rico. Half way there we tried something new and dropped the kayaks in the natural pools and eight of us paddled our way over three miles to Cayo Rico.

What an experience! We saw nurse sharks, Osprey, Black Hawks, Stingrays, not to mention the beautiful scenery and water. Most of the way the water was barely knee deep, despite us being a fair bit offshore. Occasionally it was so shallow the kayaks would run aground, and we had to walk. At one point we saw a nurse shark, that went under our kayak, and we felt it striking the underside. A truely amazing experience.Läs mer
