Kasbah Taourirt

As we enter Ouarzazate, a small town at the crossroads of the Drâa, Dadés and Ziz valleys, we stop at Kasbah Taourirt. Kasbah Taourirt is one of the most impressive of its kind in Morocco. Built in the 17th century it's a labyrinth of passages and rooms inside. There were approximately 300 rooms in the Kasbah originally and was the largest Kasbah in Morocco.
We should have toured it but unfortunately the site was damaged by the September 2023 earthquake that struck southern Morocco. An early assessment of damage reported cracks and partial collapses in the building and the surrounding historic quarter, with risk of further collapses.Leggi altro
