    Puerte de Almocabar

    October 11, 2023 in Spain ⋅ ☀️ 27 °C

A Canadian, Darcy, from our group and I decided to investigate the gate in the wall at the entrance to the town downhill from the bridge, even though the guide didn't think we'd have time. No problem 😂. On our way there and back we checked out the wee side alleys finding a couple of churches and shaded squares. At the bottom of the hill you will find the Almocabar Gate and Wall (Puerte de Almocabar y Murallas) Within the wall are two gates that were the main entrance to Ronda during Moorish times.
The two gates are the Almocabar Gate and the Carlos V Gate. It was through these very gates that Ferdinand first entered Ronda on their Triumphal march into Ronda La Ciudad after the reconquest.
We sampled the refreshing water coming from the fountain at the gate.
Turns out Darcy is a Travel Writer freelancing for some of Canada's biggest newspapers. We had good conversations about travel 😁.
