We had to go back to the hotel to book our seats on our flight home. That ended up breaking our day into two. After the seats were booked we went back out for a little more exploring. Our Uber driver told us the that museums and galleries are free on Thursday evenings. We decided that we would go to the National Gallery of Canada. With that in mind we went out and explored the area around the gallery. The park behind the gallery overlooks the Ottawa River and the city of Gatineau. Lots of stuff to see in the park. We still had some time so we went to St Patrick's Basilica to sit quietly for a while. When we were in Ottawa in 2017 about 1 million tourists were in the city because of a public event called La Machine. The streets were crowded and it was hard to see anything. It was nice to what Ottawa is like normally.
The gallery was huge and had so many pieces of art and art installations.
I took a video in The Rideau Chapel. I thought it was interesting that there was a chapel in the gallery. The chapel is actually made up of pieces of a convent that was demolished. You need to turn up the volume for the video. Each speaker has a different voice from a choir. This type of arrangement is called a motet. Is was really cool to sit in the middle and listen this piece of music.
We tried to take in most of the gallery. It was really big and we knowed we skipped by some but we enjoyed all that we saw. Once we were done with that we grabbed supper and went back to the hotel to, you guessed it, watch baseball.
