Leaving Costa RicaJune 19, 2015 in Costa Rica ⋅ ⛅ 23 °C
Officially ending our 9 month adventure saga in Costa Rica. It had been fun and it is now time to go home!
Salmon fishing in Yemen? No. Trout fishing in Costa Rica! Cannot believe that there are actually trout in Costa Rica! Apparently the spring water up in the mountains are cold enough that some Americans introduced several trout species here back in the 50s. Fishing was fun but we didnt really have the right bait. Also did a fun hike to 2 watefalls. Got my hiking fix today!Read more
Arrived at one of the world's famous surf spot. For those of us who cannot ride the big waves here, there is a un-marked forest trail up the Miro Mountain. There is a beautiful look put to Jaco beach. I also saw 8 monkeys, 3 coatis, 1 poison dart frog and bunch of birds and lizards.Read more
We are now in the northern mountains of Costa Rica. It is refreshingly cooler here. We took a wonderful morning hike in the Monteverde Cloude Forest. Our guide was friendly, knowlegeable, and found many wonderful things to see. Saw 2 agoutis, one junior tarantula, and many different type of birds and insects.Read more
We drove into 2 smaller beaches north of San Juan del Sur. The drive on a motorbike through mud roads in a thunderstorm was quite tricky, but we were rewarded with beautiful and secluded beaches! Walking along the quiet beach and found octopus and eel in the shallow pot holes.Read more
San Juan del Sur is a known surf town, but for some reason we were just not quite in the mood to surf. The beaches here are very nice, and found a local spot where bunch of people are fishing. Just couldn't resist to join the fun!Read more
The island of Ometepe was the highlight of our trip in Nicaragua. Everywhere you go, there will at least be one giant volcano in the background. The island has beautiful beaches and rustic villages. Riding the motorcycle and sharing the roads with cows, horses, and pigs. Enough expats have come here and opened up decent western restaurants, but the local lunch platters have not failed us a single time.Read more
