Viana do Castelo

We are incredibly lucky as we arrived in Viana do Castelo during the Festival of Agony.

Agony, the name of the saint is associated with the queen of the pilgrimages and the many traditions of Portugal's biggest party: the Pilgrimage in honor of Our Lady of Agony, born in 1772 of the devotion of sea men from Galicia and the whole coast Portuguese for religious and pagan celebrations, which are still repeated annually on the municipal holiday.Read more
