Day 53, on our way to Iquique

We woke up early, booked a hotel in Iquique, and packed our bags. There was nobody there to check out, so we left the key in the room. On our way to the busstation, about half way, Nina realised she forgot her passport in the hotel room 🤦‍♀️ We walked quickly back and luckily someone came who knew the code of the gate, so Nina could ran in and grab her passport. We started walking back and got a taxi. After bit of waiting we realised we were 30 minutes early... 😅
We got a nice coffee and not so nice sandwich, and went into the bus. It is supposed to take 5 hours, but the bus is taking the long way, so let's see.
We arrived in Iquique (8m). It is a city at the sea, surrounded by huge sand dunes of a few hundred meters high. It is very warm (28-30°) and sunny. We walked a bit around and to the beach. There were really huge waves!
We ate a vegetarian schwarma in a nice alternative looking surf place. We were tired and went back to the hotel where it was very very hot and the ventilator is not really blowing any wind 😅 and it has only one tiny window. But the room has a nice atmosphere with nice graffiti paintings on the walls. We watched some movies on the big tv and went to sleep. The shower is cold, but perfect with this heat. We also got towels! But no toilet paper 😅Læs mere
