• SS Yongala Dive trip

    June 24, 2017 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 23 °C

Today we went with Adrenaline snorkel and dive from Townsville to dive on the SS Yongala shipwreck. It was wrecked in a cyclone in 1911 but not rediscovered until the 1950's. By this time the marine life had colonised the ship into a natural reef. It teems with a vast multitude of marine life - animals and plants. It is truly amazing, well worth the claim it is Australia's best dive site and one of the top 10 in the world.
This was Steve's first scuba tank dive in about 20 years, he has been using Hookah gear. It was a big call to throw him in but he coped well. He said he felt better the second dive. There was a fair current at he top so we needed a line to hold onto in the water and to get down past 5 metres where it was more still.
We want to do it again
