Cracked the 40's today 🔥

My bus trip doesn't start until 12 noon. Checkout is 11am so I just have a lazy morning and stay cool in the room.
It's only a short walk to the bus station but already 30+.

I catch a Flixbus for a 3 hour air-conditioned comfortable ride. Towards 3pm. The bus digital thermometer hits 40 degrees outside. My phone says 41. I'm glad I'm in the bus!!
At Trnava, I transfer to the train station to get to Piestany, my destination. Thankfully it's a very short walk but the air is boiling. It's cool in the train station.

The train is 40 minutes late. When I go up to the platform just before it rolls in, it's super hot.
The train ride is only 25 minutes, and it's air conditioned. The accommodation provider suggested getting a taxi from the station as it's a 25 minutes walk, which normally wouldn't worry me, but not today. There's a taxi waiting for someone so I grab him.
I get to my apartment about 5.30pm. It's still 40 degrees. The apartment has an air-conditioner that actually works properly!! It works so well I don't even need a cold bath.

At 7-ish, I go out to the nearest supermarket to buy more supplies. Billa, is the chain this time. It's in a great little shopping centre I'll check out tomorrow.
Tomorrow is going to be 40 degrees also, so I'll need to find air-conditioned places to visit.
Piestany is a "famous" spa town too so I might see what that's about early tomorrow before it gets too hot.Leggi altro
