Back up to Redcar to visit Karen's folks prior to Xmas. We enjoyed three days with Margaret and Donald, and we were joined by Kirsty who had travelled up from Bristol.
We all enjoyed an evening meal in an Italian restaurant on Redcar High Street on Sunday evening. Kirsty joined Nicola and Claire for a bit of water pole exercise, followed by aqua aerobics. We exercised by reviewing the shops in Guisbrough on one day. Amanda Owen (The Yorkshire Shepherdess) was signing her new book in the village on Monday. Donald had ordered a copy for Margaret so we went with M and D for a trip out of curiosity. The signing was packed and the shop doing a great trade. Amanda Owen looked as glamorous as she always does on the TV and came over as a lively and friendly Yorkshire "lass"!!
On Tuesday we all visited Stockton.
The weather when we were there was quite exciting. The winds were predicted at 50-60 miles per hour, so we did not fancy the open stray car park overlooking the beach, instead we tucked ourselves in next to lorries on the sea front car park overlooking the Redcar off shore wind farm. The first night we were there the van rocked around as it was buffeted by the wind and kept us awake for part of the night. the next 2 nights were slightly calmer, and we slept well.Read more
