Nice little beach side town. Turakina river runs right across the beach front. Approx 45 min walk along the beach to the river mouth where we have been told the fishing is good. You can drive down but need 4x4 to do that.
That camp is very small but nice and quite as we like it, one been 1 other here. Toilet and shower $2 for 5 mins. Also 2 sinks outside. 12 powered sites here with unpowered across the road. $16 pn for 2 or nzmca $15 pn for 2. Pets allowed at this unmaned camp. Payment is by cash put in box.

Will be back here for sure. Plenty of space to park up, tents allowed. There is 2 parts to this camp, on entry to the left are locked gates that are open for some of the summer months then to your right this large space opens up. Dec to feb there is a fee to stay outside of this time is free with no time frame to leave. There are fluching toilets and cold showers. Fresh drinking water also one site. It states no fires but we read that as only in summer, there are plenty of fire pitts around. The river that borders this camp we have been told is good for trout fishing.A must visit.Read more
