    August 11 in Germany ⋅ ⛅ 33 °C

Short stopover at Munich Airport to run to our next gate, thankfully the border check was empty so we were through really quickly. Soon we'll sit back, relax, close our eyes, and open them in Beijing!

  • Temple of Heaven

    August 14 in China ⋅ ⛅ 28 °C

After leaving Universal a little early, we decided to take a small (for Beijing standards) detour to visit this temple. We were too late to go in but we got to walk around the park a bit at sunset, and appreciate it from afarRead more

  • Exploration and Mall Day!

    August 15 in China ⋅ ☀️ 29 °C

On our first free day in Beijing, the jetlag really got to us. After being up from 2-8 in the morning and visiting a super local vegetable market, we took a nap before heading out to explore some of Beijings crazy malls. Some were pure luxury, others built with extremely impressive architecture but almost empty inside. We also stumbled upon a small international street in Beijing, with mostly Turkish and Russian restaurantsRead more

  • The Great Wall of China

    August 16 in China ⋅ ⛅ 26 °C

We got to visit the Great Wall today! What an amazing experience, walking there for almost two hours. We had to take a taxi here and back, and our driver even invited us for a traditional, simple Chinese breakfast of Bao, Shu Mai, and fermented soy milk.Read more

  • Beijing West -> Xi'an North

    August 17 in China ⋅ ⛅ 27 °C

Saying goodbye to Beijing now! The train station was easier to navigate than we expected, but there will probably be enough other ones that we struggle to navigate. A short breakfast before we get into our first longer trainRead more

It's our first night in Xi'an. There wasnt too much time after we checked into the hotel but we managed to get a good look of the bell tower in Xi'an's ancient city. Some street food and souvenirs on the way too
Xi'an is a very different city to Beijing, but we're extremely impressed so far

  • Terracotta Army

    August 18 in China ⋅ ☁️ 28 °C

After a good breakfast at our hotel, we took a taxi to the Terracotta Army! I had no idea that this was only accidently found in 1974, thats crazy. The crowds here are insane, but we managed to get through somehowRead more

  • Shopping Again

    August 18 in China ⋅ ☁️ 24 °C

On the search for cool clothes, we stumbled across a mall almost entirely dedicated to Manga and Anime. We spent almost three hours in there this afternoon, spent much more money than we intended to, but couldn't be happier! It's such a pity that we're leaving Xi'an tomorrow alreadyRead more

  • Check in Chongqing

    August 19 in China ⋅ ☁️ 33 °C

We were so lucky to get this amazing room in Chongqing! A 4-bedroom suite, just for the two of us with an amazing view. It took us a while to get here but this is yet another highlight of our trip!

  • Hot Pot in Chongqing

    August 19 in China ⋅ ☁️ 28 °C

In a moment of stress after not having eaten the whole day, we impulsively ordered Chongqing's famous super spicy hotpot. We meant to take it slow, but absolutely no regrets. It was amazing, and we even got to walk around to see the gorgeous skylineRead more

  • Fengdu "Ghost" City

    August 21 in China ⋅ ☁️ 33 °C

We really put the "Ghost" in Fengdu Ghost city today. After exploring our neighbourhood in the morning, we took the train to a nearby city: Fengdu. We were supposed to visit a "Ghost city"- with temples dedicated to the dead, and other horror motives. Instead, we arrived and only then found out that the place had opening timings... and that we were half an hour late.
But happy accidents happen, and we were still able to roam around the almost eerie commercial street next to the Ghost town. Before our train back home we even had time to stumble across a proper street food market with wonderful people and even better food!

  • Firefly Harbour - Stray Cat Park

    August 22 in China ⋅ ☀️ 37 °C

I happened to find this online and I'm so glad we visited this huge park. There were so many cats, even more space, and a few small cafes and shops. We couldn't find out too much since it seems to be a pretty local place, but we think most of them are rescues and from what we could see they were being treated very well. Just a bit tired from the heat, just like usRead more

  • Hongyadon/Hongya Cave and Drone Show

    August 22 in China ⋅ ☀️ 36 °C

Another Chongqing classic. We weren't sure what to expect of this place, because we'd only seen it from far away lit up at night, but close up it really is gorgeous even in the day. There is an entire shopping complex in here, mostly filled with chinese traditional clothing rentals/photographers and street food. Afterwards, we headed to the other side of the river to watch Chongqing's weekly drone showRead more

  • Zhangjiajie National Park Day 1

    August 24 in China ⋅ ☀️ 27 °C

It was our first day at the national park, and we had absolutely perfect weather for most of our visit, starting at the West Gate. Towards the end it did get pretty stormy, but it was also very cool to see in that environment. Words and pictures cannot describe how beautiful this place is, but here are some pictures anywaysRead more

  • Tianmen Mountain

    August 25 in China ⋅ 🌧 26 °C

A small break from the national park today to visit Tianmen Mountain instead. It was so much bigger than I thought, and although the landscape is slightly similar, the extra ticket was more than worth it. Here we climbed the stairs to Tianmen cave, took an escalator to the peak of the mountain, walked around for a while and finally took the ski lift to the temple before going back down.Read more
