    Wulingyuan

    Since we were finished with the national park so early today, we visited a nearby town, probably a village for Chinese standards. Its clearly a very touristy spot, with many hotels and shops, but we were already enjoying how calm it was since we were so early that most tourists were still in the park.
    The real highlight, however, came just before sunset. Trying to cross the river back into the town, we stumbled instead on a completely abandoned part of the town. There were a few locals at the riverbank, but the houses seemed completely empty. Everything was made to be so beautiful, and yet it was all falling apart.     Zhangjiajie National Park Day 2

    Taking the east gate this time, we had a bit more trouble getting around because all paths led to the west area, which we had already done. But we still saw some amazing sights, and decided that this will be our last day in the national park.     Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon

    Unfortunately, our Grand Canyon experience was a bit of a flop. We would have needed to Google every specific attraction to understand what was going on on the map, wrongly decided that we could figure it out on our own, wasted most of our attraction Ticket and walked way more than we wanted to. Still, the glass bridge, zipline and short 2km walk at the end were really nice!Leer más

    Huanglong Cave

    Our day did have a great end with this cave that we visited. It didn't really have any extra charges, was supposed to be pretty short, but we absolutely loved it. Not only was it nice and cool inside compared to the afternoon side outside, but the lights were amazing, and there wasnt really any part where we found ourselves bored.Leer más

    Shopping in Shanghai

    We knew Shanghai would mean shopping, thats why its the last stop on our trip. But we certainly didnt expect to be quite this blown away. We spent the entire day in malls, from the moment they opened to the moment they closed, only focusing on anime... and we still have at least two anime focused malls that we haven't looked at at all. I have a feeling these last days of our journey will be over too quicklyLeer más

    Exploring Shanghai

    I started the morning with a short walk along "The Bund", from where you can see the best part of Shanghais skyline. It was nice and empty, I think it only gets full at night, but I liked how calm it was.
    Then we made our way to Yuyuan Old Street, with beautiful buildings and a cool market just opposite. After that was done, though, we found ourselves mysteriously drawn back to another anime mall...    Leer más

    Suzhou Ancient Town

    Since we had a bit too much of all the chaos and malls in Shanghai, we decided to sleep in today and then take a day trip to a nearby city. It was much calmer than we expected, and we aren't sure if it was just because of school starting up again today or because of the place just being a bit run down.     Vienna International Airport

    An unexpected extention to our trip, if only we were still in China. Our flight from Shanghai was delayed for half an hour, we got booked onto another flight three hours later. That one was then cancelled because of a security risk at BER, and then we spent the night in an airport hotel. Now, our next flight is at 6amLeer más
