1Finding the sea plane Dad and I flew over San Francisco in 2000.

    Thank you Karl

    July 27, 2017 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 20 °C

After driving a further 200 miles up the 101 and also the San Andreas fault (thank you for not shifting whilst I was driving along you!) I reunited with Kate around 1pm. As our train to Seattle wasn't until 9pm we opted to extend our hire car so that we could venture back across the Golden Gate to Muir Woods.

After a brief stop at the Woods we drove back to the viewing points for the bridge to see that Karl (that's the name of the fog) had lifted just in time for us to see the bridge in its full glory for the first time. It was a stunning farewell to California as we headed back into the city, said goodbye to Flora and picked up the Coast Starlight to Seattle - our last big train journey together.
