Welcome to the Savana - where what ever you imagined Kenya was, it actually is.

2 days doing “game drives” in those custom made Land Cruiser with a pop up roof. The adventure was amazing, the guide was a pro at finding the animals hidding.

So here is a list of what we remembered seeing : Lion, impala, zebra, elephant, giraffe, wild beast, hyena, jackal, antilope, buffalo, oryx, Tsavo cat, wild boar (pumba), ostrich, grey crowned crane, eagle, vulture, marabou stork, baboon.

Fun fact: here lions don’t know that humans are tasty. So if ever one was to bite a human they would remove the all group from the park. In Tsavo national park (est of the country) the lions used to eat the workers building the railway in the 19th century, they haven’t eaten anyone for a long time but still show aggressive behavior there - so everyone has to stick in the cars ! No in Masai Mara - not that we tried confirmed this.

Masai Mara is known for 2 things:
1- the wild beat migration happening around summer (so we didn’t see it), where a looooot of big wild cows are crossing the rivers full of crocodiles to go from Tanzania to Kenya.
2- the Masai people. Nomad indigenous that kept their traditions, dressed in red caps. They move around to feed their cow of which they also feed on their blood. Masai man seduce their women by being the guy that jumps the highest - still today for some even if of course traditions are fading.
