    We pick up bits and pieces some by research, some by hearsay and a little conjecture...
    So it seems in 1922 there was a famous murder in this house. A District Attorney shot and killed his own father during an altercation. https://www.coloradohistoricnewspapers.org/?a=d…

    The Whatley family came to the ranch around 1911.

    The barn was the area morgue where they kept the dead bodies until the ground thawed, and they could bury them. They simply wrapped the bodies in cloth and placed them in the barn.
