While cycling through the lands in Romania, I asked a group of women if any of them had a garden so I could set my tent for the night. I ended up sleeping in an old communist house, at Baba's who spoke to me in Romanian only, which I don't master quiet well... there was no shower, the toilets were in the common area in the corridor, everything in the house was like a time travel 400 years back, including waking up at the sound of the rooster in the morning. Wonderful hospitality in Lipnița

After leaving Bucarest, we are heading towards the black sea! We spent one night in a monastery, where the nones provided great hospitality to us, with warm comforting food and an amazing room. In the same town, we met a man who gave us a lot of delicious fruits which had just fallen from the trees in his garden, together with water, homemade honey and Romanian money... a truly refreshing stay in Lipnița!Read more

Road down the black sea

We started the day today with our first black sea sunrise ! An amazing view, followed by dusty road along the coast, massive rain which led us to stop for some time, before starting again and then being picked up by a truck on the road who drove us on 25 kilometers, allowing us to be a bit dry for half an jour.. and finally we made it to the Bulgarian border!Read more

Last sunrise over the black sea

Today was our last day biking... what?? After spending 5 days on the black sea coast, it is now time to move on.
After three very intense days riding up and downhills, we are exhausted, mentally and physically, and realized it would be hard to cycle all the way to Istanbul, because the mountains between Bulgaria and Turkey are double as high as what we did so far, and we don't have enough time left, according to my plans of going to Georgia and Teo's to go back to France by the 15th of August.
So today, we did one last ride on the coast, took one last amazing bath in the salty water, and spent the day in the city of Bourgas just chilling and eating (a lot..).
Right now, we are on a night bus, being transported by something else than our legs for the very first time since Berlin... see you on the other side😎Read more

And finally...

And here we are... after 50 days on the road, 3036 kilometers of distance, 20070 meters of height difference going up, 8 countries, tones of landscapes and joy and sometimes a few tears, we finally reached our final destination... Istanbul !!! It is good to be back in Turkey, so warm and welcoming as I knew it. Now I am sending the bike back to Paris with Teo, trading it with a good old backpack for my next adventure in the Georgian Mountains⛰️ fare well Merlin, see you soon for some new thrilling bike trip !Read more
