Cloud Forest Hike, Climbing, & Ziplining

    July 6, 2023 in Costa Rica ⋅ 🌩️ 66 °F

This morning we took a hike around the Cloud Forest in Monteverde. The tour took us through the forest and onto bridges suspended over the forest canopy. We didn't see much wildlife, but I caught a glimpse of the Azure-Backed Jay. It was feeding on some nuts in the trees.

After the hike, we split up into two groups, with Hannah and Micah going to do some tree climbing and Chris and Caleb doing ziplining.

The trees for Micah and Hannah were about 40' tall and had holds attached by straps. Once you reach the top, you can rappel down. Micah said it was fun but very hard.

The zipline consisted of a tram ride to the top of the mountain and 6 runs. Each run varied from 200 meters to nearly 800 meters. Our guides were fantastic and made it a fun adventure.

For lunch we went to a little restaurant called Stella's. While we were eating, a capybara came through the garden near us. It seemed friendly and not at all shy.
