Headed off at 10am and made it argument free to Rheged for lunch and a walk round the Art Centre chiseled out of a rock-face.
A quick charge and artisan gelato and back on the road for the second leg via Macclesfield for a stop for shopping and extra eees.Read more

We arrived at our cottage through the rural single-track roads up and down the peaks. A quite, but warm spot and a stir-fry dinner then off to bed.

Thor's Cave

Not wanting to miss out on the Peak District countryside we embarked on a circular route from Wetton to see Thor's Cave and stepping stones.

We passed 2-3 groups giving up on the route as the weather got wetter and wetter and plodding through stickier and slippier mud. We made it up to the cave but after a fall from Jamie, Caroline and Rigo we decided the sensible decision was to head for home.

We de-robed and warmed up with Coen and Rigo's first stock-cube tea. After lunch we built an under stair fort then watched a movie (War with Grampa).Read more

Bakewell

The weather cleared so we headed for Bakewell for a donder and dinner.

Day 1 in the park

We set off mid-morning for our first day in the park which looked to be wet and wild.

Coen immediately headed for the most extreme ride: The Smiler, 14 loop roller coaster (dragging his dad with him) while R&C checked out the rest park.

We met up for lunch with Rigo and Caroline clocking the steps and Coen and Jamie Oblivion before heading to the Curse of Alton Towers. The parties got separated at this point but finally got together for a Wickerman adventure and so Coen and Jamie could do Nemesis, Oblivion and Rita before heading back to the cottage.Read more

The second day at Alton was brighter and busier but saw all of us riding.

We eased in with Fabio's Fandango then spun onto Rita. Caroline had enough by this point but the boys continued onto Nemesis Reborn and Oblivion.
Some afternoon downtime walking through the Aquarium before ending the day on Galactica.Read more

A walk through Grin Low Wood, up to Solomon's Tower with Coen navigating. Then down to the town for food and a wander round the old bathhouse (now a shopping arcade), the Crescent, to the Opera House and pavillion hothouse, before refilling our water bottles with the famous local mineral water at St Ann's Well.Read more
Traveler St Anne's well. It is the Buxton bottled water but kind of warm and for anyone to use

Gretna Green

After an all-hands-on-deck tidy-up (and some troublesome pops down the toilet) we headed for home through mist, sun, rain, sun, rainbow, hail sun and sleet. We stopped.for sandwich in Gretna Green and headed off for a pizza in Perth for Steven McCreadie's birthday party.Read more
