Freunde der Sonne ☀️
Wir waren zurück im Paradies, juhuuu! Das war eigentlich nicht geplant und eigentlich war Dana "helfermäßig" schon ausgebucht, aber wir haben uns so vermisst, dass wir einfach in ihr AirBnB einziehen durften 🫶
Das war auch das erste Mal, seitdem wir Deutschland verlassen haben, dass wir an einen Ort kamen, den wir schon kannten und das Wohlfühlgefühl war sofort wieder da!
Trotzdem konnten wir alles nochmal komplett neu kennenlernen; so ohne Schnee, war es wie ein anderer Ort.
Wir hatten wunderbare 10 Tage, mit ganz tollen Menschen. Zwei andere Pärchen aus Holland und Frankreich waren zeitgleich mit uns dort, wir hatten wunderbare Gespräche, wilde Spielabende, die leckersten Abendessen, die lustigsten Backaktionen und einfach eine fabelhafte Zeit mit viel Spaß&Lachen.
Zusätzlich waren Projekte mit 12 Händen einfach viel schneller erledigt und gleichzeitig etwas chaotisch, da wir uns immer alle koordinieren mussten :D

Wir konnten Projekte, die wir unfertig zurückgelassen haben, im fertigen Zustand bestaunen, zB die Wolkenhimmeldecke, welche mit Holz verkleidet wurde und nun ein richtiges "im alten Heustall liegen und durch die Dachspalten Wolken zählen"-Gefühl vermittelt.
Wir konnten endlich mit den ersten Frühlingsarbeiten anfangen - Hühnerstall nach dem langen Winter und hohen Schnee umbauen & einbruchssicher gegen Raubtiere machen, Beete umgraben und einsäen, das Sommerhäuschen weiter umbauen und streichen.
An Regentagen weiter Projekte im Haus angehen, Bohrlöcher zuspachteln, Holz abschleifen und streichen, allgemeine Reparaturen.
Dick eingemummelt am See sitzen (war trotz Sonne immer noch arschkalt meistens) und Eichhörnchen, Streifenhörnchen, Enten und Vögel beobachten. & natürlich die Hühner und Gus kuscheln.

Insgesamt war dieser leider wieder viel zu kurze Aufenthalt nochmal Balsam für die Seele und es war so schön nochmal hier gewesen zu sein 🩶

Gefühlt kaum angekommen und das wichtigste ausgepackt, mussten wir wieder alles einpacken und verstauen, bevor es auf unsere nächste Reise ging. Budi fest angeschnallt.
Einmal per Zug bitte 19 Stunden durch 3 Provinzen. Einmal Halifax nach Québec City. Im Sitzabteil.
Aber VIA Rail Canada hat guten Service, super bequeme Sitze mit viel Platz und wir hatten Glück, dass wir uns einen Vierer aufgrund von Fußstützen und verstellbaren Rückenteil zu einer Liegefläche umfunktionieren konnten. So ließ es sich aushalten und wir konnten sogar etwas schlafen.

Morgens um 7 Uhr angekommen ging`s erstmal die Stadt erkunden, dazu nächstes Mal mehr - einmal Québec, tüdelü.

Friends of the sun ☀️

We were back in paradise, yaaay! It wasn't actually planned and Dana was already fully booked with volunteers, but we missed each other so much that we could come back and sleep in her AirBnB 🫶
This was also the first time since we left Germany that we had been to a place we already knew and the feeling of "home" was immediately back!
Nevertheless, we were able to get to know everything completely new, without the snow, it was like a different place.
We had another wonderful 10 days with really great people. Two other couples from the Netherlands and France were there with us at the same time - we had wonderful conversations, wild game nights, the most delicious dinners, the funniest baking events and simply a fabulous time with lots of fun and laughter.
In addition, projects with 12 hands were simply done much faster and at the same time a bit chaotic, as we all had to coordinate our task which each other :D

We were able to see the projects, which we had left unfinished in their finished state, e.g. the cloudy sky ceiling, which was covered with wood and now gives a real "lying in the old hay barn and counting clouds through the gaps in the roof" feeling.
We were finally able to start the first spring work - rebuilding the chicken coop after the long winter and heavy snow and making it predator-proof, digging up and sowing the beds, further rebuilding and painting the summer house.
On rainy days, we continued to tackle projects in the house, filling drill holes, sanding and painting wood, general repairs.
Sitting by the lake wrapped up tight (despite the sun, it was still cold most of the time) and watching squirrels, chipmunks, ducks and birds. And of course cuddling the chickens and Gus.

All in all, this much too short stay was once again balsam for the soul and it was so nice to have been back here again 🩶

It felt like we had barely arrived and unpacked the most important things before we had to pack everything again before we set off on our next journey. Budi firmly strapped in.
By train 19 hours through 3 provinces. From Halifax to Québec City. In the seating compartment.
But VIA Rail Canada has good service, super comfortable seats with plenty of space and we were lucky that we were able to convert a four-seater into a couchette - thanks to the footrests and adjustable backrest. This made it bearable and we were even able to get some sleep.
