Camino Baztan

After a long trip through the night the bus set me down next to the river Adour and I walked to the first bridge, the Pont du Saint Esprit where I crossed to the old town center. It was night still, but a lot of lights and there was hardly anybody about. And of course no bar or café open. So I walked about until 6:30h when at last I came across a bar attached to the market hall where tables and chairs were being set up before it opened at 7 o’clock. Coffee at last and a bite to eat. More walking about in daylight now until at last I could take posession of our room at 9 o’clock. And lay down and fell asleep immediately! One hour completely gone!
What a beautiful town this is, sitting on the two rivers, the Nive which flows into the Adour here. Our whole walk tomorrow will be along the Nive’s towpath to Ustaritz.
