Devil’s Island, French Guiana

The penal colony of Devil’s Island really refers to the one on Ile du Real. Only about a dozen political prisoners were fated to expire on the Devils Island proper. Amidst the continual chorus performed by Cicadas, monkeys competed for access to the best fruit.
