    October 10, 2020 in England ⋅ ☁️ 10 °C

Well looking at the news regarding covid it looks like I'm heading off at the right time 😊
Setting off for Manchester at 10.00, with flight at 3.00, think I will use my lounge pass 😊😎

  • Day2

    October 11, 2020 in Italy ⋅ ⛅ 17 °C

Well a nice view of isla Tavolara from my room, clearly the beach isn't too far, now to see what I can find.
Well I found the beach(es), more like lots of sandy coves and hardly a soul about, but it is Sunday morning and a tad overcast.
Sun out and this sardinia soul beer is really good.

  • Day 4

    October 13, 2020 in Italy ⋅ ☁️ 16 °C

Well waiting for the bus - frequent service - every 2 hours, going to olbia to see if there are any humans lol.
Well it may be a big town but still only a couple of streets with shops and some nice cafe/restaurants.
Went to the Basilica much smaller than I thought. Don't know what else to say really, traffic and people are spare and the lunchtime shut downs literally turn the town to a ghost town. Last bus is at 5pm so I will head back to porto san paolo which has a traffic count of roughly one car every two minutes on the main street lol
It's such a relaxing place very few people, couple of bars and restaurants friendly helpful locals if there were later flights back I could be tempted to stop but easy jet have no more direct flights after my scheduled one on 24th 😢

  • Day 5

    October 14, 2020 in Italy ⋅ ⛅ 20 °C

Well foolishly I decided to take a hike to the next cove at Costa dorata ! Only 45 minutes up and down hill but yet another secluded cove bereft of humans. Water so crystal clear you can see to the bottom so peaceful and tranquil I could happily sit here all day.Read more

  • Day 6

    October 15, 2020 in Italy ⋅ ☀️ 15 °C

Well got the car and I read about this little town in the mountains called Orgosola which isn't really a tourist site but is quaint and has lots of murals first started by some feuding anarchists during the Italian resistance, so I thought I would take a trip there.
Well it's certainly in the hills and apart from the road in all others are like alleys, I found driving in the village impossible as most roads were like 45 degrees plus.
Spent ages there and I'm sure I only saw a small portion of the murals as they are virtually on every street/alley and park.
It's quite thought provoking when you consider it was a way the village used to rebel, and they appear to be keeping it up lol

  • Day 7

    October 16, 2020 in Italy ⋅ ⛅ 15 °C

Well nice start to day, really sunny so went to a cove that has loads of flamingos, typical camera battery was flat so only able to take photos with phone. Beautiful bay gorgeous colour to water, stayed till dinner then attempted to see some ruins... What a nightmare, sat nav on car stopped working in hills, phone no signal so no map apart from an off line one that didn't help.
Still it was a nice drive around, a bit like the lakes only the hills are mountains lol
Try again tomorrow now I've bought a paper map.

  • Day 9

    October 18, 2020 in Italy ⋅ ⛅ 16 °C

Brilliant sunshine but rather than the beach I'm making use of the car and heading in search of some nuraghe archaeological. To date they've eluded me as they are literally hidden or just in some random fields lol.
Hotel manager advised to look around arzachena as they are more accessable

Well I found them and there was some bloody hike involved lol anyhow as the sun was out I decided to test the water... It was cold! But definitely refreshed the parts

  • Day 10

    October 19, 2020 in Italy ⋅ ⛅ 18 °C

Well last day with the car so thought I would head to yet another beach. Ended up going a beach near orosei, as to be expected it was glorious weather sunny and temperature just around 20-21 degrees.
The water was surprisingly warm although there was a strong current I still managed a 30 minutes water aerobics session, which was a damn sight easier than climbing the bloody mountain yesterday lol.
After today I'm on a bicycle to the local beaches nearer to porto san paolo.

  • Day 12

    October 21, 2020 in Italy ⋅ ☀️ 22 °C

Well I cycled 3 miles to a different beach, more people here - well more than just me ha ha. Another scorching day and the first time I've been accosted by sunglass salesmen on the beach ha ha, there's even a restaurant on the beach!Read more

  • Day 15

    October 24, 2020 in Italy ⋅ ⛅ 20 °C

Well check out is this morning at 10, but ivanu the owner says no problem you keep the bike and room until you taxi arrives at 5.

I can't say enough how helpful he has been, he has watsapped me each day to see how I am and where I'm off to, and he has sent me Web links to some of the sights where I'm going to along with recommendations for restaurants and bars.
He's also told me the mayor has decided to do a lock down from Monday, and there was me looki g to stay on lol. Still it's home today to my own 14 day lock down 😷

Stone the crows 25 passengers going home to lock down lol
