Day 11.... The beach

So the holiday starts

No walking boots on this one, I think it's going to be sun all the way. Early start for taxi to the airport and hopefully should be at the complex for 3pm Turkish time (+2).

Well, all went smoothly, apartment is comfortable with nice pool, we are ten minutes from the beach and resort area, found a bar 200 yards from the apartment that not only does food but also footy.

Well the food was really good and efes beer quite malty, didn't wander too far as it's roasting and I'm dog tired as didn't get much sleep last night it's 10:30 (8:30 UK time) so I'm going to pace myself and get some kip, the other two have just cracked a bottle of wine on the porch but hey...I'm sensible ...so I tell myself lolRead more

Day 2 - time to explore

Well last night found a few nice bars so this morning I think we are going to head towards the centre and then the beach the plan being breakfast, a stroll round then find somewhere shady to watch F1

Found the bars and had a great day, just got to get used to the fact that most of the life starts after 7pm and by 10 I'm ready for bed ha ha.Read more

Decided to explore the beach area but couldn't see the sand or beach for hundreds of Russians, must be russian because cafe prices are in euro, Turkish and russian lol

Day 5, a new beach

Well we have decided to try the opposite side in the peninsular where there's another beach it looks like a nice stroll to get to it and I think we will stroll there then have a dip in the sea then find somewhere to eat because food has been brilliant up to now.

Averaging about 6.5 km each day, which is enough for me ha ha. Plan is to get back sometime after lunch , relax indoors for a while and out for 10pm to watch the live footy in sports bar we found, jw quite ust a shame it's Blackpool on skytrolled tonight 🥺ssa

CANT BELIEVE IT !!!
Bloody fish are certainly attracted to me ....bit on my thigh 🥺

Strolled on beach and saw quite a few turtle nests fenced off.

Well the day on the beach was brilliant, went for a meal at the red lion bit to be honest the food was really poor then a short stroll through centre of side and back to apartment.and of course the night was crowned off with pne winning and donkeylashers loosing 😊Read more

Well nothing planned so will just have to see and surprise myself 😊

Well breakfast and a short taxi trip to manavgat waterfalls.

And tonite we've decided it's Chinese 😜 and very tasty too.
What a nice surprise, went to local bar to watch man utd and there's a family birthday on for little girl, and we got a massive piece of birthday cake from them, cool 😜Read more

Well it's got to be the beach again hasn't it 😜

It certainly was, absolutely roasting, I can't believe how warm the water is although there are some powerful breakers too.,
Had mushroom omelette for breakfast in a neat little bar on the beach and when I had basted enough came back to chill and get ready for night out

I'm told Saturday is a market day so instead of lying in I think I will have a slightly earlier start today

Well busy little market, I succumbed and bought a couple of polo shirts and jumpers, also found a lovely throw for my chair, so all in all a good venture out, went to watch the footy which was ok. Then results and one loosing 🥺 which has put a bit of a downer on things, still life goes on,more sunshine tomorrow 🌞Read more

Day 10 stroll along the front

No plans today, so Connie's for breakfast then a slow stroll along the shops , who knows even a bar as it warms up 🌞

Well we've just checked our steps and on average we are walking around 4.5 miles a day !!! In excessive heat, no wonder the bars are so welcoming 😊

Hmm Chateaubriand for evening meal, probably the best meal I've had here. Absolutely scrumptious and a variety of sauces to accompany it 😜Read more

Day 11 - By the sea

A chill day , breakfast then stroll to old town and back along the beach, I caved in and went para sailing - other two wimped out in favour of cold beer. First attempt to go paradailing the guy said "we can't do any at the moment, it's the police patrols at sea, its political really". So I told him what beach bar I was at and forty minutes later he came to find me saying "police patrols have gone now". So parasailing all along the beach miraculously started up again ha ha.

Considering we had no plans it was a nice stroll, I bought a cushion cover, had some beers, a bit of a dip and sat at a beach bar till the sun set and bar closed lolRead more

Day. 12 - A day trip to Alanya

Well decided on a day trip to Alanya and yesterday the tour company rang me to say that the cable car part of the trip wouldn't be happening, the guy said "they are telling us that the cars are out of service...but they're not really...its political !", Which I presume means that there's industrial action, but will see. Just waiting for the transport and away I go.

First stop Cleopatra beach and Damlatas Magarasi cave. Not impressed by the beach, very clean but more ground up shells than sand, the cave is ok very humid in there and stalgtites etc are quite cool.Read more

Day 12 - Lunch, alanya and boat trip

Went for lunch on the river, quite quaint no seats but cushions on floor, I had trout from the river very tasty. Went then to Alanya harbour, had a couple of hours free for shopping than a boat trip round the walls , was very nice, then a banana plantation to see bananas 😵‍💫Read more

Today we're heading into manavgat as it's market day and it's meant to be three times the size of Side market, hopefully it will be as good or even better.

Well it was certainly bigger and more variety, even got some spices to take home. Worn out now and back having a cold beer.Read more

Day 14 - Green lake and taurus mountains

Another trip out, this time to the mountains and a trip on a catamaran on the green lake

First stop a mosque, gave Trevor and Stuart a chance to see inside,considering its only a small mosque it was still nice inside.

Then a short stop to see the remains of an aqueduct, then on to ancient Roman town of Lyrbe, it's up in the mountain and god knows why a city would be built in such an inaccessible place, but amazing that you can just wander around at leisure.

Then a coffee stop at an orange grove.

On to see the hydro electric dam on the green lake, which is quite impressive. Then lunch by the green lake, very nice chicken and salad, after which a cruise on the green lake and then home.All in all a good trip although the coach had the family from hell on it, I don't think they stopped jabbering the whole day 😵‍💫Read more

Ha ha fooled you, eventually ended up with chicken curry, it wasn't exactly as the menu described it ...a Mexican jalfrezi ...but it was still tasty think the cayenne pepper gave it a kick lol

Well we are planning a trip to the market in the morning followed by supermarket and maybe beach or pub.
Originally we were planning to watch footy in the evening but it looks like that had gone for a Burton lol
