• Day 46–47

    Richmond

    July 29, 2024 in Australia ⋅ 🌬 21 °C

Arrive and go straight to the RV Park in town to fill up our caravan's water tanks. Decide this will do for our camping spot and choose our site. Leave the ute connected to the van. Go for a walk intending to go to the information centre to pay for a couple of nights camping...we end up wandering the other end of the main street and purchasing some grocery items from their Spar supermarket. This makes us decide to go back to our caravan and we can have some lunch. Same as usual for us both - sandwiches for Rog, toasties for me! Now we walk back down the street to have another look around and get to the information centre this time. Check out historic display and call into Kronasarus Korner (info centre & Cafe, gift shop) and pay $10 for our stop tonight. The $10 would give us up to 3 nights, but we've already decided 1 night in Richmond will do.
Check out the caravan park beside the lake and then turn back to continue along the main street past the hotels. Look into the other supermarket available, before deciding to go and have a drink at one of the two pubs. We choose the busier looking one, and enjoy a couple of drinks here, chatting to the lovely young bar attendant a girl from Ireland. Head back to our caravan - just going to relax here for the rest of the day.
Tea tonight is Florries and boiled vegetables - very good! After tidy up, while Roger has his shower, I start looking into a Horizontal Falls tour - get a wake up on the fact the overnight one Rog and I want to do stops running for this year (season) on the 21 September! Otherwise you wait until it starts up again in April 2025! That's decided - we're booking for the 21/09/24. Most expensive tour I've ever booked - going with it though as we've saved, budgeted for this, absolutely on our 'bucket/must do list'. Unfortunately, after quite a few tries online, I don't succeed in getting this done - so I send a request for assistance email and get to bed. Roger well and truly asleep.
Tuesday morning sees us in no rush, even though we're awake before 7am. I read for a while, then we're both up having breakfast - porridge with banana for both of us. I have a shower while Roger makes sure we're all ready to leave. Next go for a walk together - to go around Lake then down the street to the Spar supermarket. Get some grocery items then on the way back to our van, call in at the 'Treats for your table' Cafe. Lovely home cooking/baking with great coffee/ hot chocolate. Roger has a caramel slice with a cappuccino and I have a sausage roll with a hot chocolate. Whoops I missed a chance to try a Mushy Pea pie! Back to our caravan and I make a call to follow up on my email about the Horizontal Falls tour. Get this sorted and booked - money paid, so will think of travel insurance next...
Getting on towards 11am so we can move on to our next destination approx 110km away. Corella Park Farm Stays does not welcome arrivals before 12 noon!
