Corella Dam - west side camp
2024年8月4日〜7日, オーストラリア ⋅ ☀️ 24 °C
Check out the first couple of camp areas - closest to gate we came in through. Choose to come back to this spot to have 'water frontage'. Work out our position with neighbours (bus) so all happy.
Have our lunch - both of us have meat with salad sandwiches followed by some watermelon. Such a nice day, we'll just relax here for the afternoon....
Tea tonight Roger is cooking a lamb roast with roast potato, pumpkin and carrots on the BabyQ to be served with boiled brocolli and cauliflower and gravy. Very nice!
We then enjoy sharing a communal camp fire with the ' middle' campers Geoff and Janet, along with Andrew and Georgi. Very nice evening, weather lovely and the company just as good. While around the fire we have our dessert of Indian creamed rice (made from pkt) - great! Head back to our caravan around 9.30pm to do our dishes, tidy up, Roger shower and we're to bed.
Monday morning sees me get up 1st at 7am to go for my 'shuffle'. Gone for just over an hour, after looking around our camp area - beautiful spot. When I get back to camp, Roger's up and already had his breakfast, so I have mine ( yes porridge and cuppa tea). Get organised (Roger packs our lunches) and head off 9.30am for the day to go check out Mary Kathleen and Fountain Springs.
After checking these places out, we drive back to where we're staying and check out the Clem Walton Park camping areas further out than ours - very lovely, but not so caravan towing friendly - so pleased with where we are!
Get back to our campsite at Corella Dam around 4.30pm. Relax and have drinks and nibbles (some cheese, salsa and biccies). Roger pumps up our inflatable stand up paddleboard and then goes and uses it on the nice stretch of water in front of us. Next it's teatime, so Florries are on our menu tonight, Roger cooks them on the BabyQ, he has his plain, while I do up abit of salad to have with mine. Followed by dessert of watermelon and then remainder of last night's creamed rice. Dishes and tidy up.
Have another lovely evening around the communal campfire with the same nice folk, plus newbie camper beside us, Russell.
Roger and I retire to our caravan before 9pm. Shower for Rog, I'm just doing this before I join him in bed to read for a while.
Tuesday morning - starts off cool and dull, so we decide to take it easy (no plans to go anywhere today), leisurely breakfast of bacon, eggs, mushrooms, tomatoes, relish and cheese on toast. Roger happily doing 'stuff' with the caravan maintenance and I'm trying to get the motivation to have my shower! Have my shower, then Roger and I just relax and read our books out under our caravan awning, enjoying our water views and constant birdlife on the go. Lunch is yoghurt and banana for me, Roger has cold roast meat salad sandwich. We continue to relax, reading etc and throughout the afternoon Roger goes stand up paddleboarding and I go for a good walk to see how close to the dam wall I can get by walking at the waters edge (made it to within approx 100m). Tea tonight is Stephen Brown's Spanish Mackeral that he gave us in frozen fillets. Roger makes up a cheesy vegetable bake to have with it. I cut the fillets into 5cm slabs and coat them in egg and dip them in seasoned breadcrumbs (pkt ) ×2 , then Roger panfries them on the BabyQ in a mixture of butter and oil. This turns out delicious meal! Another evening spent around the communal fire with Geoff, Janet and Andrew, Georgi. We're all leaving here tomorrow - so enjoy the company tonight. We're all back to our van's around 9.30pm. Shower for Rog, bedtime.
Wednesday morning sees me up just after 7am to go for my 'shuffle' - I follow the tracks to Clem Walton Park campground. By the time I get back at 8.30am, Geoff and Janet (in their big green bus) have already gone, and I'm just in time to say cheerio to Andrew and Georgi as they leave in their 'orange' Isuzu ute with their 'Essential' caravan. I have breakfast (Rog has porridge waiting for me), get changed and organised to leave too. Roger has us all 'in hand'. We're off at 9.30am - heading to Mt Isa next.もっと詳しく
