• Ronnie's in Palmerston

    9–11 Eyl 2024, Avustralya ⋅ ⛅ 31 °C

Arrive back here after our time away exploring some of Kakadu. Time for tea, so Ronnie goes and gets some supplies from nearby shops and we have a BBQ with chicken kebabs, kangaroo burgers and pork sausages, served with bread rolls, bread, coleslaw, cheese, beetroot and relish. Do our tidy up, relax on the balcony until we all head off to our beds.
Tuesday morning has Roger and I preparing things ready for us to leave tomorrow. After our breakfast, I start the washing, Roger repacks the ute. Later in the morning I walk to the closest shopping centre to get my mobile camera screen fixed again $40 and cancel my 'touch up' eye-liner tattooing appt - no way we can manage to come back to Darwin so soon on this trip. Roger meets me at the shopping centre and we drive to Gateway Shopping Centre (bigger) to do our grocery shop and get a couple of items - new cord for Hema Maps unit and a armband phone carrier. Return back to Ronnie's for lunch, we all use up leftover salads with Ronnie cooking up some of his Barramundi.
Afternoon is spent relaxing, finishing washing etc and keeping cool in Ronnie's pool. 1st time we've had Norma, Alison, Ronnie, Roger and I all in the pool at the same time.
Roger and I get ready, after having showers, to go out for our planned Darwin Harbour Cruise. We leave for this (driving) at 4.45pm to make sure we get there by 5.30pm - we do.
Later when we're coming back from our evening out with family and friends we stop and fuel up the ute. Once back at Ronnie's, Roger showers and heads to bed. I stay up watching a movie with Norma and Ronnie, Alison has already gone to bed. The movie was nice - Robert Redford, Morgan Freeman, Jennifer Lopez...... Now bedtime.
Oh wow - this time has gone too quickly, this Wednesday morning sees us leaving Ronnie's and our Darwin time of this trip over. It's all been fantastic - especially catching up with Ronnie and his generous hospitality, we've been very well looked after. So we get up and have our breakfast as usual, Roger then gets stuck into caravan leaving prep, while I make the most of mobile reception and internet while we've got it here - and get our budgeting and bill paying sorted. Then I have a quick 'freshen up' shower (allows me to leave Ronnie's spare bathroom all cleaned and tidy) before I join the rest- Ronnie, Norma and Alison along with the ready and waiting Roger, for my share of the morning tea custard slice (made by Norma and Alison) - on Ronnie's balcony. Time to get underway, say our heartfelt thanks and goodbyes - were on the move around 10.30am.
