Tasman Holiday Parks Denham
21.–24. Okt. 2024 in Australien ⋅ 🌬 23 °C
Come here as it's a G'day Parks partner. Can tell it's going to be a higher price as it's such a great beachside location. Yep $51 powered site per night (thank goodness for G'day discount). We book for 2 nights initially, though by the time we're set up and checking what we'll do here, we can tell we'll probably stay another night (3). Decide would be a good idea to do our weekly clothes washing etc now, it's windy enough hopefully get dry quick enough... $6 per load, we have our usual 2 loads to do. Once it's washed and we've got it on the park's lines to dry we feel it's a good time to go for a walk. We follow a recommended town heritage walk - very good to get us checking about Denham. When we get back it's time for tea. Easy cheats one tonight, we've got packaged (on special to get used) spinach and ricotta pasta that we just reheat in the microwave. Follow this with a fresh fruit salad (Roger made) and yoghurt. Not many dishes - I'm going to leave them for tomorrow morning (slack attack, I usually like them done at the end of the day) - like our washing that's still on the line. Roger goes showers, I'm updating this - then it will be relax and bedtime.
We get up and have our breakfast and then get organised to go out driving today - planning to visit Monkey Mia and surrounds. Roger has packed our eski so we can make our lunch wherever we end up. Leave our camp before 8.30am.
We get back around 2pm, we're happy to just take it easy at our caravan for the rest of the day. Reading and writing (writing is me, sending cards - Jordan & Dani for baby shower, postcard for Sally Reynolds-Johnson re post surgery for broken hip). Tea tonight Roger cooks up pork steaks with vegetables and airfryer potato chips. Have our preserved pears with yoghurt to follow. Next we walk to the sunset viewing platform here at our caravan park - lovely sunset over the bay, but didn't stay out long - very blustery winds tonight. Roger has his shower, we tidy up, now resting until bed.
Roger has plans for today - and what great plans they turned out to be! We started off by getting up early - me dressing straight into my bathers and putting my fishing shirt over the top with trackies. Get ourselves organised to be away for the day - eski filled for egg & bacon breakfast and meat and salad sandwiches lunch. We leave around 7am and stop in at the Shark Bay Bakery so Roger can get fresh bread. We're now heading off to enjoy the Francois Peron National Park (FPNP).
We return from this outing, after getting fuel in Denham on the way back, at around 4pm. We unpack from the day out and go and have our showers. Relax about the caravan until tea - Roger makes up mince into tacos, soft shells with salad. Tidy up, and I wash the dishes. Roger to bed reading, I'm sitting up catching up my budgeting books and writing this, then it'll be bedtime for me too.
Wake up this Thursday morning, nice and early, before 6.30am - as it's our last morning in Denham I decide to go and enjoy a morning shuffle to check out more of the beaches beside our caravan park. I get back shortly after 8am (managed 9km). Note: on this outing I did have a little incident with 2 dogs (red heelers) running from their owner (no recall) flat out to me, and the older one circling and barking at me while I keep trying to jog. It almost tripped me a couple of times and I was worried (trying not to show it) that it might bite/nip the back of my legs! When the owner finally arrived (we met heading towards each other) she crossly told me my running was stirring 'him' up and could I stop so she can catch him. "Sure" I said as I did, then once she had this dog on a lead (younger dog just following it) I continued on my way....before I said something that could escalate!
By this time Roger is pretty much got us sorted and ready to leave. I have my breakfast and then go have a shower - now Rog is ready. So we head off to meet Andrew, Georgina and Daisy (their cute dog) for 9.30am at the Cafe beside the Post Office. When we park in Denham's main street, Rog realises he's left his good hat at the caravan park - so he drives back to get it while I go and post my couple of items and meet up with our travelling friends. Rog gets back and joins us - we enjoy a cuppa and a good catch up, before Roger and I leave Denham. Georgina and Andrew are staying a few more days. I'm hoping our paths will cross again - really lovely couple.Weiterlesen
