Have arrived here ready for our scenic flight day tour to Abrolhos Islands. I'm having a little 'worry time' as my carry on bag is over the stipulated 3kg. Good ol' Rog, "take out your water bottle and carry it separate- you'll be right." Yes well, taking my full steel water bottle out of my bag does get it under 3kg. 🤞 Needn't have worried - our pilot arrives, young lady called Katie who gets Roger and I to fill out the required indemnity paperwork. Then gives us the safety brief, no check of our bags! During these proceedings it starts to dawn on Roger and I that we're Katie's only passengers! Wow we're heading off in a 4 seater plane - this makes me so happy - we've just been sitting in the terminal waiting area with a bus load of Korean's - who have not been speaking English and chatting quite loudly. Naughty to admit that it's a relief we're not in a airplane with them - we'd have managed I'm sure - but this feels so much more special. And it is! From the moment Katie gets us settled in our plane - I get the front seat beside Katie for the flight out (Rog will have the front seat on the return trip) - it is just a wonderful experience.
Katie gets us safely back to this airport at around 3.15pm. During our day out with Katie - we've discovered she is originally from Brisbane, for now living in Geraldton. She has completed a course to be a qualified psychologist, with covid outbreak, no work for her, so taken her hobby of flying to the next level - commercial licence, hence doing this work, but in the process of studying further. About to do exams for her next level to fly bigger commercial planes. Impressive young woman, also chats about looking forward to her sister's 21st birthday happening back in Brisbane within the next few weeks - timing good, have her exams done 1st!.
We fondly say our goodbyes and thank yous to Katie - she looked after us very nicely and made sure we enjoyed this tour. Such a beaut day.
