• Geraldton Blessing of the Fleet

    3 novembre 2024, Australia ⋅ 🌬 20 °C

This officially started at 9.30am and by the time we've arrived it is busy. Our park on the wharf is quite a walk from where the event is being held. We get to this free event to find plenty to look at. It has a wonderful, friendly vibe and there is a lady on a PA system keeping us all informed on what's happening. We wander around, enjoying sussing out the food vendors etc. We grab ourselves a nice drink, cocktail for me beer for Roger, and take a seat at a table that's provided. Roger finishes his drink quicker than me so he goes off to look at more stuff - while he's gone, I happily see Andrew, Georgina with their dog Daisy, they come and sit with me. Great to catch up - they're leaving Geraldton tomorrow, heading Dongara way. Roger comes back of course - and we all enjoy a chat and end up having our lunch together. Andrew and Roger have crayfish rolls, I have calamari and Georgina (unfortunately) just feels like a cuppa. After lunch we part ways, Roger and I stay on at the event a while longer to watch some of the novelty events - tug of war, women and men's rope coiling completion. All good fun! We decide we've seen enough so we head off too. I ask Rog if we could check out the 30 Knots Distillery on our way - of course he says yes. We drive there to find it's not open until later in the day (due to them participating at The Blessing of the Fleet - how I found out about them!). We go on back to our housesit - we'll call back later.Leggi altro
